Question 1

What is Superior Solar?

Accepted Answer

Superior Solar is an independent matching platform and marketplace. We are not a solar installer. Our goal is to help homeowners find and compare reputable local solar installation companies in their area.

Question 2

How does Superior Solar match homeowners with installers?

Accepted Answer

You provide us with basic information about your home, location, and energy needs. We use this information to identify installers in our network that serve your area and match your project requirements.

Question 3

Does it cost homeowners anything to use Superior Solar?

Accepted Answer

Our matching service is available to homeowners at no cost. We are compensated by our installer network when connections are made.

Question 4

How are installers listed on your site?

Accepted Answer

We list installers based on stated capabilities, service areas, and licensing, but we do not independently verify every claim. We encourage you to use our data to compare installers and check their state licenses before signing a contract.

Question 5

Am I required to hire an installer I find through Superior Solar?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not. You are under no obligation to move forward with any installer you connect with through our platform. You are fully in control of your decision.

Question 6

How long does the solar installation process take?

Accepted Answer

Timelines vary by location, permits, and installer schedules. Typically, residential projects take between 2 to 3 months from signing a contract to your system being turned on (receiving Permission to Operate from the utility).

Question 7

Will solar panels work if the grid goes down?

Accepted Answer

Standard grid-tied solar systems automatically shut down during a power outage to prevent sending electricity back to the grid and injuring utility workers. If you want backup power during an outage, you must install a solar battery system alongside your panels.

Question 8

Do I still get an electricity bill if I have solar?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Even if your solar system offsets 100% of your usage, you will remain connected to the utility grid. You will typically pay a small monthly connection or basic service fee.

Question 9

How much does a solar system cost?

Accepted Answer

The average gross cost in the US is between $2.50 and $3.50 per watt. An average 6kW system costs between $15,000 and $21,000 before tax credits. Prices vary widely based on your home and location.

Question 10

Is solar really free?

Accepted Answer

No. Ads claiming 'free solar' are typically referring to zero-down Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) or leases where you do not own the system. You are still paying for the energy, just not the upfront cost of the panels.
